Solidarity Summer School: Conclusion of the Second Edition
It is with great joy, and some sadness, that the Solidarity Summer School's second edition came to an end. With students logging in from three continents, this edition of the Summer School was an amazing international event hosted by the Faculty of Philosophy at the Pontifical University of John Paul II! Over 50 students participated in lectures given by the incredible professors who joined us and shared their wisdom. We are grateful to Profs. Joachim Wiemeyer, Krzysztof Brzechczyn, Rocco Buttiglione, Stefano Zamagni, and Rev. Władysław Zuziak for sharing their wisdom regarding the phenomenon of solidarity within historical, social, and economic contexts. During our workshops, hosted by dr. hab. rev. Miłosz Hołda, dr. Katarina Komenska, dr. Hernan Guerrero Troncoso, and dr. Paulina Bednarz-Łuczewska, we had a chance to develop the ideas from the lectures further and discuss them. In these discussions, we saw solidarity develop in real-time, within our own community of persons. Hearing perspectives from around the world added dimension to our understanding of solidarity and lent depth to our conversations.
Without a doubt, the students and teachers of the second edition of the Solidarity Summer School will remember this summer during the years to come as a true intellectual adventure that brought together so many people in pursuit of understanding and wisdom.
The Solidarity Summer School was a joint project of the Faculty of Philosophy and the International Center for the Study of Phenomenon of Solidarność. It was free for participants because it was financed as the project "Internationalization of the Polish experience of Solidarity" (BPI/SPI/2021/1/00069) has been supported by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange under the SPINAKER programee and co-financed by the European Social Fund under the Operational Program Knowledge Education Development, a non-competitive project entitled "Supporting institutional capacity of Polish higher education institutions through the creation and implementation of international study programmes" (Measure: 3.3 Internationalization of Polish higher education), as specified in the project application no.
